HABC LEVEL 3 FIRST AID AT WORK

Introduction to the Course

The Level 3 First Aid at Work course is designed to ensure that on successful completion of the course delegates are trained first aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

First Aid at Work Course Outline


Initial Care

  • First aid at work regulations and rules

  • Accident reporting

  • Activating emergency medical services

  • Fears of first aid

  • Barriers – gloves and face barriers

  • Initial assessment and airway management

  • Unconscious breathing and recovery position


Cardiac Problems

  • The heart

  • Sudden cardiac arrest, heart attacks and CPR

  • One rescuer CPR

  • Compressions only CPR

  • CPR handover to a second rescuer

  • Introduction to AED’s


Other Primary Care First Aid Problems

  • Adult choking, conscious and unconscious

  • Serious bleeding management and wounds

  • Shock management and types of shock

  • Spinal injury management


Specific Injury Management


Illness Management

  • Injury assessment

  • Breaks, fractures and splinting

  • Strains and sprains

  • Types of wounds and practice bandaging different injuries

  • Embedded objects

  • Burns and scalds

  • Head injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Temperature injuries – heat stroke, heat exhaustion and hypothermia

  • Eye injuries

  • Bites and stings

  • Crush injuries

  • Chest injuries

  • Electrical injuries

  • Illness assessment

  • The respiratory system and hypoxia

  • Diabetes

  • Anaphylactic shock

  • Heart attack

  • Angina

  • Stroke

  • Asthma and respiratory problems

  • Hyperventilating


After your training you will receive:

Requirements

Attendees must be 16+ and bring along valid ID (Passport, Driving license or ID card) along with National Insurance and Proof of Address.

Course Availability

  • The maximum number of attendees for this course is 12

  • Courses run various dates during the week and weekends.  Please check course dates to avoid disappointment

  • Courses will be delivered within our TSCM Training Academy
